Each June, our board of directors gathers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for a time of connection, discernment, and shared vision. This time is always meaningful, but this year carried a unique energy from the very beginning.
Instead of our usual Friday evening dinner, we gathered at Globe Life Field to watch the Texas Rangers take on the San Diego Padres. What happened next was unforgettable: eleven runs in the first inning alone! It felt like more than just a game; it set the tone for the rest of our time together, full of anticipation, abundance, and momentum.
On Saturday, we met at the Southeast Irving Community Center, a ministry of Mission Alive’s IFC, The Table–Irving. There, board members saw firsthand the work taking root : a thriving community garden, legal aid services, and a range of opportunities designed to equip marginalized neighbors. It wasn’t just a presentation; it was a clear reminder of what faithful presence can look like in a community.
Steve and Laura Allen, who planted The Table–Irving, shared their story, offering a compelling picture of what it means to cultivate spaces of belonging and transformation. Next, Manuel and Nancy Gonzalez introduced Siempre Familia and their vision to faithfully engage the Hispanic community in South Fort Worth. Their passion and clarity reminded us that the Spirit continues to raise up leaders for every neighborhood and group of people.
As we continued introducing our current church planters in training, something became unmistakably clear: God is actively at work. Story after story reflected courage, creativity, and deep trust in the Spirit’s leading. By the time we transitioned to our formal board meeting, the atmosphere was already established not by strategy but by testimony. The work ahead felt grounded, purposeful, and full of hope.
We invite you to pray with us. Pray for our board members, who give generously of their time, resources, and wisdom to help Mission Alive to sustain its work and expand its impact. Pray for our planters, that God will continue to move through them in ways that are powerful and unmistakable. And pray for the Mission Alive team as we press forward, developing new pathways to see Innovative Faith Communities take root and flourish.
