The Bible was written by about 40 inspired writers, comprising hundreds of stories, written over at least a 1,500-year period. Yet, the scriptures really tell a single story – the story of God’s relentless pursuit of mankind. The culminating event of this single story, of course, is the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. But the story did not end there. God continued this story in the scriptures that followed. His story was not finished, even with the end of Acts or Revelation. The story scripture tells continues 2,000 years later in your life and in mine. Like Adam, Esther, the Ethiopian eunuch and the other 3,000 people mentioned in the Bible, we are also characters in God’s story. In Ephesians 1:18-19, Paul prays that the “eyes of our hearts will be enlightened” to the incomparable great power that is AT WORK IN US, the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Wrap your mind around that!

Tomorrow, in our lives, the adventure of God’s relentless pursuit of mankind continues. He will use us like He has used His people since the beginning. How cool is that! May our eyes be open to see it.
