Mission Alive’s ministry of starting new churches in marginalized communities is off to a fantastic start in 2023! We already have twice as many potential projects as planned for the whole year! You will notice that the title of this article refers to IFCs. IFC is an acronym for Innovative Faith Community. The term ‘church’ simply does not work anymore. It is too closely associated with either a building or the specific activities that happen during a worship gathering, and ‘church’ is so much more! For those reasons, Mission Alive has started using Innovative Faith Community to describe what we train toward and what our leaders start.

In the last quarter of 2022, Mission Alive assessed Vini and Rachel Montesdeoca, who are starting an IFC in Abilene, Texas, among Spanish-speaking residents. We have another couple who will be assessed later this spring who want to plant a new IFC among the Brazilian population in Broward County, FL – the largest Brazillian population outside of Brazil. Another couple will be assessed to start an IFC in Irving, Texas, among immigrants and urban populations. Finally, we are working closely with Mission Alive Canada (see Kevin Vance’s article) to launch a Mission Alive project in Calgary, Alberta. It will be our third project in Canada.

Please join us in asking God’s favor on each of these new IFCs!
