We are excited to share more about the latest revision of our popular Discipleship Cohorts materials. Since publishing our first DC materials in 2021, we have worked with over 200 people from around the globe who have learned to listen to God through Scripture, prayer, and mission. Many of these went on to be trained as facilitators and now lead DCs in their own context. In fact, we have many second and third generation leaders, forming micro-movements from the original cohorts. In 2022 we introduced a Spanish language version, opening new possibilities for missional discipleship. After working with leaders in churches, innovative faith communities, and campus settings, we are releasing a fresh revision with three key changes.
First, the new 12-week revision is a better fit with campus and congregational calendars without sacrificing the proven components. The 12-week version follows the same sequence focusing on listening to God through Scripture, prayer, mission, and balanced life, dedicating three sessions to each rhythm.
In addition, we have made some subtle shifts in language away from the month/week structure to a more flexible rhythm/session organization. This shift increases the focus on the idea of rhythms as a discipleship lifestyle and away from a calendar organization.
Finally, to make the DC material easier for those unfamiliar with the Bible, we have included three Scripture collections as possible options for cohort selection. One collection is specifically curated for those with little or no Bible or faith exposure and includes the full text of both an Old Testament and a New Testament passage within each session.
Taken together, these refinements make it possible for Discipleship Cohorts to reach even more people cultivating healthy relationships with God that foster missional living. Take a look at the new version here
