Are you a visionary leader called to ministry that transforms communities from the ground up? Mission Alive is actively seeking dedicated leaders to launch new Innovative Faith Communities (IFCs) in rural and small towns across the United States. This vital work is inspired by our Rural and Small Town Initiative (RSTI), an effort significantly accelerated by our collaboration with Pepperdine University’s Empower and Equip program, which received a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.

Mission Alive’s approach is rooted in the belief that churches thrive when they invest in the vitality of their communities. Our IFCs adopt a “serve-first” approach, aiming to transform marginalized populations by addressing community needs first and letting faith emerge through service. The goal is to help individuals, churches, and communities flourish. Our aim is to launch five new IFCs in rural and small-town settings by 2027.  Three are off and running, but we still need to identify two more.

As a church planter in the RSTI, your journey begins with extensive onsite research, conducting interviews with community leaders and members to understand local strengths and gaps. This process helps identify a missional engagement—an initiative to help the community at a specific point of difficulty or brokenness. For example, this research has led Lufkin Street Ministries 2540 in East Texas to focus on those currently experiencing homelessness by providing a compassionate community, meals, and prayer. In Bertram, Texas, community conversations highlighted the priorities of supporting children struggling with reading and equipping young adults with essential job and life skills.

We are seeking leaders committed to embodying the love of Jesus by fostering partnerships with local churches, government organizations, and nonprofits, and together serving their neighbors. If you feel called to launch a sustainable, Spirit-shaped IFC and help your neighbors thrive through incarnational efforts, partner with Mission Alive today to bring the Kingdom near.
