In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus presents his vision for a life well lived. Several times he begins his comments with, “You have heard it was said…but I say.…” Using this construction, Jesus invites his listeners to a different way of thinking and living. As we work our way through the Sermon, we get quite a different view of the life of faith. We get Jesus’ Manifesto. A manifesto is a public declaration or document that enumerates or describes guiding principles that lead to action. The Sermon on the Mount is indeed Jesus’ manifesto.
Out of this, Mission Alive has created its first alternate DC material to answer the request of current DC leaders for more materials based on the Discipleship Cohort structure. The study is entitled, Living the Jesus Manifesto: A Mission Alive Discipleship Cohort Based on the Sermon on the Mount, and is currently being beta tested by 7 established DC leaders.
Mission Alive’s Discipleship Cohorts are helping church plants and established congregations throughout North America, Europe and East Africa. DC micromovements are rapidly multiplying because this way of listening to God profoundly changes those involved. At last count, we know of at least 14 micromovement of discipleship birthed from original DCs.
We will keep you posted on when this material will be available for broader use. In the meantime, would you pray for all the micromovements and their leaders? If you want to participate in a DC, please click the link below to learn more. New cohorts will be forming this summer. |
