It is a great joy each year to carve out a few days to spend in Malibu, CA, representing Mission Alive at Pepperdine University’s Harbor Bible Lectures and connecting with colleagues from all the country and the world. This year was no exception. My wife, Candace, and I taught a workshop on principles for congregational discipleship which was well received, connected with old friends, and were able to share what God is doing through Mission Alive. We came home filled with the blessing of being with God’s people and, to be honest, tired from the travel and full schedule!
Pepperdine’s Harbor Lectures has proven to be an excellent opportunity for Mission Alive to connect with like-minded leaders and to identify both potential church planters as well as churches with a missional vision who desire the type of training Mission Alive offers.
We were refreshed by the men and women who spoke on the theme of Running with Perseverance, based on the book of Hebrews. Don McLaughlin and Mike Cope, Director of the Harbor Lectures, were among the gifted and Spirit-filled presenters who encouraged hundreds of attendees during the four day conference.
At the end of the week, Candace and I left Malibu spiritually renewed to continue serving God’s kingdom. If you find yourself feeling spiritually dry, I strongly suggest you carve out the first week of May next year and meet us in Malibu! |
