How do you “know” if you have a vibrant, life-giving walk with Jesus? What does it mean to say that you are a Christian? Recent findings from Pew Research Center’s Religious Landscape Study that evaluates trends impacting religion in 2023-24 indicate that two out of three Americans “identify” as Christian. These most recent results might indicate that the much talked about decline of Christianity in the United States has slowed and one might even believe stabilized. After a significant decrease from 78% in 2007 to 63% in 2019, the Christian share of the U.S. adult population has remained consistent between 60% and 64% from 2019 to 2024.

But what does it mean if congregating as a body at church continues to decline? What if regularly reading scripture or engaging in prayer continues to regress? What if research shows that Gen Z and those younger continue to avoid “organized” Christianity?

Mission Alive Catalyzes Kingdom Movements

It is very plausible that organizations like Mission Alive whose dedication to planting and nurturing Innovative Faith Communities (IFCs) in marginalized communities with a different approach to seeking, finding and following Christ may be on to something. Our commitment to catalyze kingdom movements and equipping leaders is more crucial than ever. As we continue to focus on authentic engagement and contextualized ministry, we can address the unique challenges marginalized communities in an Urban, Rural, Native American, Transitioning-Suburban, University and Immigrant context actually face. Together we can foster and grow spiritual renewal in Christ.

Jesus Christ Transforms Lives

As the religious landscape evolves, Mission Alive remains steadfast in our mission, adapting strategies to effectively share the transformative message of Jesus Christ.
