A Thanksgiving Thought from Mission813
As Thanksgiving draws near, I begin to think about what I will serve at my holiday table. I create a shopping list and look for new recipes. I also think about the people who will sit around that table and the conversations we will have.
Tables are not just pieces of furniture; they are instruments of community and ministry. Recently I had a conversation with one of the women of Mission Alive. As we discussed her ministry, she shared that others need a place to belong and be to be treated as family. This is often done around a table.
A table can create opportunities to share not just a meal but love and acceptance. Jesus offered these very things when He shared a table with others. May our tables, not just at Thanksgiving, but at all times, be wide enough to welcome others, especially those who need a place to belong.
Happy Thanksgiving from the Women of Mission813.
