Last week I shared that Mission Alive is driven by four convictions. These convictions inform both what we do and how we do it.
CONVICTION #1
God is still radically transforming human lives through Jesus.
Over the past 20 years of Mission Alive’s church planting ministry, we have heard dozens and dozens of stories of the amazing transformation of people who have given their lives to Christ. Here are just a few examples:
- A 20-something desperately lonely atheist woman who found salvation and community.
- A 60-something homeless man who had been making money by creating drugs using the Merck manual throws it away as he came to Christ.
- A former stripper and her boyfriend who gave their lives to Christ and turned from their previous life.
- An alcoholic man, homeless for 15 years and in his mid-50’s, meets a shelter volunteer and gets housing, joins a bible study and gives his life to Christ.
- A prostitute, who had her first child at 12 years old and lived on the street addicted to drugs, who comes to Christ and brings her children.
- Numerous people who have returned to faith or others have found faith for the first time.
Every one of these stories comes from a Mission Alive church plant and illustrates that God is still pursuing people and radically changing them as they give their life to Christ. These stories just scratched the surface of those who have experienced deep, authentic life transformation. Mission Alive exists for everyone who, like these, live lonely and lost lives and hunger for meaning and community. They are why we plant new, innovative faith communities for marginalized populations.
We look forward to next week when we will share with you our second conviction.
