A message from Blake and Katie Burchfield and family–Hot Springs, South Dakota
Little by little, with much prayer and faith, we continue to make inroads within our own community of Hot Springs and on the Pine Ridge Reservation. God has been so faithful in leading us to the people that He is drawing to Himself.
We continue to help lead Wednesday night services at the Red Shirt Community Church on the Pine Ridge Reservation. We are in the process of trying to acquire three portable buildings from the county school district on the reservation. These buildings would become our permanent gathering place for the church and other activities that would bless the community of Red Shirt.
The Red Shirt Community Church also put on a three day horse camp in June for area youth. Kids came out to learn about horses and get the chance to ride. It was a great time building relationships with kids and others that came out to help.
The work that we have put into making relationships in Hot Springs is paying off. In June, our family went to Custer State Park for an overnight trip with students from the Cultural Diversity Club at the Hot Springs High School. It was wonderful to spend time with the students outside of school and in the beauty of God’s creation.
