Because of the similarity between missional renewal of existing churches and planting missional churches, Mission Alive invites church leaders to participate in reVISION—Initiative for Missional Transformation. ReVISION is designed to walk with leaders of existing churches as they pray, think, and plan for leading their churches to more fully express the Mission of God in their communities. The purpose is not only to re-imagine what God is doing in the world (an opening of eyes) but also to equip Christian leaders to model Jesus by leading their churches into God’s mission within their communities.
For example, Allen Close, preaching minister of the Lexington Church of Christ in Lexington, South Carolina and elders Allan Whitacre and Steve Izard went through ReVision and took their understanding and new practices back to their church to help them to missionally express the purposes and mission of God through their church to their community. Elder Steve Izarad had an “aha’ moment when he realized that they were serving “as a bubble” within their culture rather than participating with searchers for social transformation and spiritual renewal. Searchers were not invited to join them as they expressed the Kingdom of God. He said, “This one understanding is so significant that it will transform how we minister in our community.” The experiences of the two short labs helped them apply biblical theologies to ministry and incarnationally connect with searchers and skeptics and guide them to “to open their eyes and turn . . . from darkness to light…”
The Purpose of ReVision
The purposes of this ministry are to help existing churches . . .
- re-imagine what God is doing in the world,
- nurture passion and develop pathways for congregational spiritual formation, and
- equip God’s people to embody the fullness of the mission of God in ministry to the world.

| When Mill Creek Fellowship partnered with Mission Alive in the Theology Lab we had already established a basic DNA as a church. However, we knew that without training and guidance we would trend toward repeating the same mistakes that had been made in the past. We wanted fresh ideas and prayerful wise guidance as we continued on our journey as a church. |
